1st semester

Logistics Planning Software

Dr. Balázs Sztrapkovics

You will learn how to use 2D and 3D CAD software and master their use at a skill level, and use these CAD software to create detailed 2D and 3D designs of a storage space. During the semester, we will also learn two programming languages and a software for inventory optimization.

Compulsory pre-study:

Process Planning

Dr. Gábor Kovács

The aim is to provide a process planning approach and the basics of standard process planning methodologies. Advanced use of EPC and BPMN descriptive languages is an important objective. In a stand-alone exercise, a process plan and its As-Is and To-Be state will be developed using both standard languages.

Compulsory pre-study:

Simulation Planning

András Bakos

We will learn the mathematical foundations of simulation and the different types of statistical distributions. We will set up queuing models to answer logistic planning questions. We will also learn about the typical flow of simulation projects and the types of simulation models. We will also implement logistics system models in a simulation environment, working in an independent way.

Demand Planning and Inventory Management

Dr. Krisztián Bóna

You will learn the demand planning process and its main methodologies, as well as methods of inventory planning. You will learn about the most important cost and reliability based inventory models. In labs, you will learn and practice computer implementation of demand planning methods and inventory models in an independent exercise.

Compulsory pre-study:

Enterprise Logistics Project 1

András Bakos

You will learn – individually or in groups – about a logistics topic of your choice. We will carry out a literature search to find out where the state of the art in science and technology stands on this topic, and then carry out a gap analysis to identify possible future developments. We will identify our own role for the way forward (ELP2).

2nd semester

Planning of Warehousing Systems

Dr. Krisztián Bóna

We will learn the steps of planning a warehouse, going step-by-step through the possible technological solutions and planning criteria for each warehouse subsystem. We will cover the characteristics and design of both manual, conventional systems and automated high-bay warehouse systems. In independent work, students will be asked to plan a conventional and a high-bay warehouse system based on the personal data provided.

Planning of Plant Logistics Systems

Dr. Krisztián Bóna

The course will deal with the process, methodology and main considerations of planning the internal plant layouts and machine setups. During the practicals, we will look at the application of each algorithm, laying the foundations for the steps to be carried out in the semester homework, the planning of a new plant floor.

Control of Transport Logistics

Dr. Gábor Kovács

Operational planning issues of logistics networks will be discussed, including the round trip problem and route planning. We will work independently on the planning of a logistics network, with a specific focus on daily routine tasks, operational planning of routes and the implementation of transport control.

Production Planning and Scheduling

Marcell Bertalan

In the first half of the course, the basic concepts of work-organization and production logistics will be reviewed, including process characteristics, the concepts of time base and capacity, product structure and medium-term planning tasks. CPM and PERT mesh design techniques will be introduced, and in the second half of the semester we will focus on single- and multi-machine deterministic and stochastic production scheduling.

Planning of Extralogistics Networks

Dr. Gábor Kovács

We will discuss strategic planning issues in logistics networks, including the transport problem and site planning. We will work independently on the planning of a logistics network, without touching on routine day-to-day tasks, with the aim of developing the structure and the generic operation of the network.

Internship

Dr. Balázs Sztrapkovics

During the internship, you will experience the operation of logistics systems and processes in practice in a company. During the internship you will independently explore the operation and processes of a logistics system.

More

The course Master Thesis and the final examination require the completion of a 4-week internship.

3rd semester

Lean Management

Dr. Balázs Sztrapkovics

In addition to learning about the complex lean tools required for production planning and optimisation, the semester will also introduce you to the application of lean in other sectors (e.g. office processes). Methodologies for reducing scrap rates and basic ergonomics will be introduced. During the semester, a greenfield planning of a production hall will be carried out and its processes will be improved using the tools learned.

Master Thesis

András Bakos

By developing a logistics planning topic of your choice, you will show how you can apply the information you have learned during the training. You will identify the current situation on a quantitative basis and, after identifying and prioritising the problems, you will develop one or more detailed proposals for improvement and quantify their expected impact. The master thesis will be written according to the information gained during the semester.
